I had to run into the city briefly today and as I am prone to doing, I made a direct beeline for 42 Raw, a raw food cafe at Pilestræde, 32. If you like fresh healthy food that fills you up long after the lunch hour has passed then do stop by for a visit.

The menu consists predominantly of salad in summer with the addition of lasagna and tapas dishes once the weather turns colder. You'll find delicious seed crackers to accompany your savory food, fresh desserts if you have a sweet tooth and their very delicious nut cookies. You might have a hard time deciding which of the vast selection of smoothie's or juices to try so extensive is the list.
My personal favourites? Well, the lasagna for the combination of flavours that engage my tastebuds in every enjoyable mouthful. On warm summer days I have enjoyed many of the salad's on offer, forcing myself to try new flavours each time rather than sticking to my tried and tested favourites. I love the mango and chilli smoothie and the carrot apple and ginger juice, really, being such a glutton it is hard for me to decide where to place my allegiance.

I nearly forgot the fruit and nut cookies, I always buy a couple for my boys to have after school when I have been in town, I confess here that usually I have greedily consumed them myself before arriving at the school gates, empty paper bag hastily stashed out of sight in the car.

Today was just for liquid snacks for myself and my children so we ordered three drinks. A banana and fig smoothie, a blueberry and basil smoothie and a carrot, apple and ginger juice. As is always the way I didn't end up with the drink I ordered for myself, the warm and spicy juice surprisingly was much favoured by my 4 year old. The little one enjoyed the banana smoothie and actually I really enjoyed the blueberry and basil smoothie.

At first glance the food does seem a little expensive but I can honestly say that I am always so completely full up after I have eaten here that I consider 42 Raw to be very good value for money. As I said previously, I look forward to my trips to the city primarily for the opportunity it brings to enjoy the food at Raw 42.
